I feel fantastic about the progress I’ve made as a non-smoker

“I feel positive and empowered having successfully become smoke-free after 42 years.

I recently had a moment with Charlie who congratulated me on becoming smoke-free after such a long period of trying to quit. It really brought a sense of realisation and surprise for me, and reinforced just how significant this achievement is.

I am now preparing for my fourth operation within the past year and a half as a non-smoker. Some of my procedure dates have been pushed back, which has been frustrating at times, but I am still staying positive and I feel fantastic about the progress I’ve made.

I do have some understandable worries about experiencing cabin fever during recovery, but I have made my home a smoke-free, comfortable and welcoming space where I can rest and recover.

Overall, I am feeling optimistic about the future. I have been focusing on my wellbeing, finding new energy, and giving myself time to get into the best possible shape as a non-smoker. Attending regular yoga classes has also really helped support both my physical and emotional wellbeing.”
